PGCB #102 - Fancy Folds

Today I'm hosting at the Paper Girls Challenge blog and I wanted to show you this fun card I made for the Fancy Folds Challenge. It's called a Pinwheel fold card and the great part about it is that you can use it without an envelope if it's a hand delivered card or attached to a gift. And bonus, it takes no time at all to make!

This is a view of the card open. It would be really easy to slip a gift card into also. The full tutorial by Dawn Olchefske is posted at SplitCoast Stampers. Definitely check it out.

Make sure to link up a project at The Paper Girls Challenge Blog after you finish your project.

PGCB #101 Mixed Media

This challenge took a little bit of time to get into the right mindset to work on but once I was in the zone I had a lot of fun. Here are the products I worked with: 12x16 Canvas, Gesso, Dylusions Ink spray, Mixed media paper, Ken Oliver's Color Burst and Gel Medium

I learned a few things while working on this so I'll share my process. I primed my canvas with Gesso. After that was dry, I spritzed my paper with Dylusions spray ink. I absolutely love this stuff. Seriously, the pigment is so concentrated it only takes a little to get a saturated color. I used London blue and Lime green. The rest is paper, I custom dyed my papers for two reasons. #1 I just really wanted to play around with these powder pigments more and #2 I wanted the variations in tone were desirable for the look I was going for. I proceeded to glue everything down with Gel Medium which is amazing. Throw away your Mod Podge now.  LOL The main thing I found out was that the Gel Medium picks up the Dylusions spray pigment. So, if you try something like this put a coat of Gel Medium over the tip and let it completely dry, then work on the rest of your canvas.
