I was super excited when I found out that I would be working with
American Crafts Wood Veneer Pieces for the Scrapbook Steals blog hop this weekend. I just love all of the different shapes available these days. I have several packs already and I find them to be very versatile. This particular pack just made me think either travel or boy. I wanted to show at least two ways to use the little guys. On the above card I decided to leave the wood naked to show the texture in all it's glory. I backed them with little black hearts to make the shapes pop. The squares are white cardstock with washi tape on top.
My second card I thought I'd show the pieces with a little color. I first put a layer of white acrylic paint and let it dry for a few minutes. Then I spritzed with Mr Hueys in primary colors for a bold bright colors. I did the layer of white acrylic to make the color really bright. Otherwise it had a tendency to look a bit darker as it sinks into the wood. The background of the card is a bunch of different washi tapes I have on hand that went with the little boy look I was going for.
