SSI March Card Sketch

 Here's a sneak at the card sketch for March. I love how wide open it is. There are seriously so many directions you could go with this sketch.

For the card sketch this month I thought it would be a good idea to show how great the card kits are. They are perfect for when you are in a rush for a last minute card or if you simply just don't know where to start. I literally made this card in under 5 minutes. I decided to stay true to the  kit and only use what is in it. This particular kit is called Hip Hip Hooray. Its a steal at only $19.95. It comes with cardstock stickers, stamps, an ink spot, mini paper clips, pre-printed card bases and envelopes.

Paper Girls Challenge #31 -Doodle it!

When the challenge for doodling was suggested by Kristy at the Paper Girls Challenge blog I was so excited! I thought this would be a cinch! Anyhow when it came close to the deadline for submissions I started getting a creative block. Luckily when I sat down to actually make a project I just forced myself to start and this is what I came out with. I traced some arrows with my Kiwi Lane templates Nature #3. Then I doodles different designs on the inside of the arrows.  Then for the chevron design on the strip of blue cardstock I just traced the point of the arrow over and over. The small craft star I traced with my gold Stampin' Dazzle Marker. And lastly after stamping Thanks with the Pool Party Ink, I went back and accented the letters with a Pool Party Marker.

Scrapbook Steals Blog Hop!

 I was super excited when I found out that I would be working with American Crafts Wood Veneer Pieces for the Scrapbook Steals blog hop this weekend. I just love all of the different shapes available these days. I have several packs already and I find them to be very versatile. This particular pack just made me think either travel or boy. I wanted to show at least two ways to use the little guys. On the above card I decided to leave the wood naked to show the texture in all it's glory. I backed them with little black hearts to make the shapes pop. The squares are white cardstock with washi tape on top.

My second card I thought I'd show the pieces with a little color. I first put a layer of white acrylic paint and let it dry for a few minutes. Then I spritzed with Mr Hueys in primary colors for a bold bright colors. I did the layer of white acrylic to make the color really bright. Otherwise it had a tendency to look a bit darker as it sinks into the wood.  The background of the card is  a bunch of different washi tapes I have on hand that went with the little boy look I was going for.

Bridal Card

I saw this idea a while back and loved it, so I just had to case it.
I found I got more contrast by stamping and embossing on Apricot Appeal
then sponging in the white ink than stamping on the white glossy and sponging on
the Apricot Appeal. What do you think?
