Scrapbook Steals Birthday Week Blog Hop

It's birthday week at Scrapbook Steals and to celebrate their fourth birthday they are doing a challenge blog hop. The best part is they are giving out scrappy prizes for participating in the challenges. For more information go to the ScrapbookSTEALS blog. You should be coming from the super talented Erin Colby's blog, if no simply click the link above to start at the beginning.

First off I just want to say Happy Birthday to ScrapbookSTEALS. The first steal I bought was to their retreat in 2011 and I've been stealing great deals on all of my favorite scrapbook brands since then.

I chose to participate in the Favorite Vendor challenge. I absolutely love My Mind's Eye. This is hands down the brand I own the most of. I have a weakness for the Sweetest Thing line that came out last year. I was itching to get my hands on some since I saw the CHA releases of this line. I had to add a little of the American Crafts jute twine too because it is one of my favorite things lately too.

This card is for the Washi  Fever Challenge. I needed to use four different washi tapes on one project. No problem! I used the floral washi tape to make a background on the base of my card and folded the other three washi tapes over a piece of twine and cut each of the bottoms with a different edge to mix it up. There you go!

Now head on over to the talented Kristy Lee's blog and see what she's got up her sleeve. I promise she won't disappoint!

Flamin' Flowers

Today's scrapbook composition I finally used one of the papers I've been hoarding from G.C.D. Studios. I love their style! Since I only had one sheet of this paper and I love the flower so much I just had to make sure they didn't get covered up. So I decided to use a hobby knife and cut around the images enough to let them lie on top of the layers. Here's a close up.

The other thing that I like to do is combine color photos with black and white. I actually just printed the lower picture with extreme contrast on card stock. The jumbo tag was 7 gypsies (I think) and the rub-on is MME.

I just want to mention also that Allison from Stampin' When I Can is doing some fantastic blog candy for her two year blog-a-versary.

AFSS30 All Felt Up

This is my entry to Allison's Suggestive Sunday challenge. This go round we are supposed to incorporate felt into a paper crafting project. This is a 12 x 12 scrapbook page of my daughter Gena when she was just a couple of weeks old. I don't really scrap in order, she is five years old now. But this is one of my favorite pictures of when she was a baby. The felt flowers and the buttons I bought while I was in Salt Lake City at one of their wonderful scrapbook stores. I don't really know the brand you just paid by the scoop.

Spray Park Installment 1

(click on image to see larger view)
I can't believe that it's been five whole days since my last post!! I've been working on a more involved scrapbook layout and I didn't want to post it until I was finished. Since it's taking so long I've had a change of heart and will just post two pages at a time instead. So here's the first installment of my daughters birthday (last year) at the spray park. These pages are viewed side by side.

Card stock: Green Galore, Tempting Turquoise, Brilliant Blue, Only Orange
Papers: Around the block, DWAV
Stickers: Letters from Target $1 section and

Blessed

This is one of the pages I made with my scrapbooking
club back in February. It's hard to see on the lettering but
we used the kissing technique on the title.
The swirls are embossed with the now discontinued
Old Olive ep. And the flowers are embossed with the
discontinued copper ep. (Sniff) We also made our own
Old Olive brads by embossing them.

Stamp Sets: Doodle This, Office Accoutrement
Card stock: Not Quite Navy, True thyme, Close to Cocoa
Ink: Versa Mark, True Thyme, Chocolate Chip, Certainly Celery

Sisters are the Best

Here is a page that uses the big blossom from Sell-a-brations and the Friends with Flower hostess kit. I used a bleaching technique for the "Sisters are the Best" element and the big blossom. The title I used All about U. That is a great set to mine for words.

For this Technique you will need any bleach. My favorite is the Clorox Ultra because it is more of a gel -and it doesn't splash!

1. Sponge desired color of craft ink (pigment ink) onto white cardstock. Make sure to cover the entire piece. Let dry.

2. Using a brayer roll a darker classic ink (dye based ink) over the top of the other color. Basic black does not work with this technique.

3. Make a makeshift stamp pad with folded paper towel and bleach, or apply to stamp with a sponge brush. Any household bleach works.

4. Stamp image. (Tip: make sure not to get too much bleach on your stamp or your image will look like a blob.)

Cardstock:So Saffron and Chocolate Chip, the patterned paper and stickers come with the scrapbooking kit. Ink: Tempting Turquoise and Only Orange craft and Chocolate Chip classic. Chipboard and twill tape are used as well.
